Setup Guide

Kodi Setup

Set up Multystreams IPTV on Kodi using the built-in PVR IPTV Simple Client. Works on Windows, Mac, Linux, Android TV boxes, Raspberry Pi, and any device running Kodi 19 (Matrix) or 20 (Nexus).

⏱ 10 min setup 💻 All platforms 📺 EPG support
ℹ️ Kodi Version: This guide works for Kodi 19 Matrix and Kodi 20 Nexus. The PVR IPTV Simple Client is pre-installed — no extra downloads needed. If you're on an older version (Kodi 17 or 18), the steps are similar but the menus may look slightly different.

Step-by-Step Guide

1

Enable PVR IPTV Simple Client

From the Kodi home screen:

  1. Go to Settings (gear icon)
  2. Select Add-ons
  3. Select My Add-ons
  4. Select PVR Clients
  5. Find PVR IPTV Simple Client and click Enable
2

Open Add-on Settings

After enabling, click Configure (or open the add-on settings). You'll see multiple tabs: General, EPG Settings, Channels, etc.

3

Add Your M3U Playlist URL

In the General tab:

  1. Set Location to Remote Path (Internet address)
  2. Paste your Multystreams M3U URL in the M3U Playlist URL field
  3. Click OK to save
📋 Tip: Your M3U URL was sent via WhatsApp after your purchase. Message us if you need it resent.
4

Add EPG Programme Guide (Optional but Recommended)

In the EPG Settings tab, set the XMLTV URL to your Multystreams EPG URL. This adds programme schedules and now/next info for all channels. Contact us on WhatsApp to get your EPG URL.

5

Restart Kodi

Close Kodi completely and reopen it. Kodi will load your channels in the background. This may take 30–60 seconds for large playlists. Once loaded, you'll see a "PVR manager started" notification.

6

Browse & Watch Your Channels

Navigate to TV in the Kodi main menu. You'll see all channels organised by category. Use the EPG guide to see what's on. Press OK/Enter on any channel to start watching.

Tip: Use a TV-Friendly Kodi Skin

The default Kodi interface isn't optimised for remote control use. Install a TV-friendly skin for a better experience:

  • Aeon Nox SiLVO — Clean, dark theme. Great for media centres
  • Arctic Zephyr 2 — Modern flat design, touch and remote friendly
  • Titan BINGIE — Netflix-style layout with horizontal scrolling

All skins are available from Add-ons → Look and feel → Skin in Kodi.

Performance Tips

Increase Cache Size

Edit advancedsettings.xml to set a larger cache buffer (32MB+). This significantly reduces buffering on busy channels.

🔌

Use Wired Connection

Ethernet is always more stable than Wi-Fi for streaming. Especially important for 4K streams on Kodi boxes.

🎛️

Set Hardware Acceleration

In Settings → Player → Videos, enable hardware acceleration (DXVA2 on Windows, Amlogic/MediaCodec on Android boxes).

🧹

Clear Kodi Cache Monthly

Use the "Kodi Maintenance Tool" add-on to clear cache and thumbnails. Keeps Kodi fast and prevents slowdowns.

Troubleshooting

"No PVR add-ons enabled" — channels not showing +

Go back to Settings → Add-ons → My Add-ons → PVR Clients and confirm PVR IPTV Simple Client is shown as "Enabled" (not "Disabled"). If it's not listed, your Kodi may need updating to version 19+.

Playlist loads but shows 0 channels +

Make sure the M3U URL field is set to "Remote Path (Internet address)" not "Local path". Double-check the URL has no extra spaces. Try opening the M3U URL in a browser to confirm it loads correctly.

Constant buffering on all channels +

Enable hardware video decoding in Kodi's player settings. Also, check your internet speed with fast.com — you need at least 10 Mbps for HD. Increasing the cache size in advancedsettings.xml often solves buffering completely.

Kodi crashes when switching channels quickly +

Wait for the current stream to fully stop before switching. In the PVR IPTV Simple Client settings, enable "Stop stream before channel change" if that option is available on your version.
